Amazing day with Scientist Murphy!

The students in Room 112 had a blast with Scientist Murphy today. They enjoyed working collaboratively in groups to further their understanding of structures, mechanisms and the 6 simple machines. The workshop provided a hands-on experience to compliment what we discussed in class. Following the workshop, students indicated an interest in becoming a scientist or an engineer as a result of their participation. I believe the workshop did awaken a passion for science and technology in particular students.
Here are snap shots of our day.

P.S. A huge thank you to my student helpers- Mara, Vincent, Reim, Kylee, Shaeta, Hailey and our Scientist, Carolyn Murphy!

Winter Olympics 2014

Dear parents/guardian,
Throughout the duration of the Winter Olympicsthe class and I will be wearing colours to support the team we are cheering for in the 2014 Winter Olympics. In Social Studies, we will be discussing how Olympic sports bring us together and how dreams and achievements know no geographical boundaries. As such, it would be greatly appreciated if you could send with your child newspapers/magazines regarding Olympic news.
Merci!

Allez équipe Canada! Go Team Canada!
